General strike in the Italian railway sector

Italy’s railway sector employees went on strike yesterday in response to a call to protest their working conditions.

According to Sputnik news agency, Italian local media reported that three important trade-labor unions of this country, including “CGIL”, “CISL” and “UIL” unions. They called for an eight-hour strike at the state-owned railway transportation company “Trinitalia” from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm local time this Friday.

Officials of the protesting trade unions warned that the workers of the railway sector are protesting their working conditions, including the pressure caused by passengers in trains and train stations and the imbalance in the programs of this sector.

Ternitalia Company announced that today’s strike will seriously affect Italian rail transportation and will completely or partially cause the cancellation of regional and high-speed train services.

According to reports, this strike has caused disruption in the activity of railway lines in the Italian cities of Rome, Milan and Naples.
